<br />
Merry Christmas Everyone!<br />
I've been scrambling to wrap up the last of the Christmas presents. I found this awesome wrapping paper at target that looks like chalkboard art. Since it is mainly black I needed to add some color to liven up the packages. Instead of getting crappy bows at the dollar store I decided to add a crafty touch to each gift.<br />
<br />
<br />
I headed over to SVGCUTS.com and checked out what they had for Christmas. They have this super cute <a href="http://svgcuts.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3&products_id=152" target="_blank">wintergreen set</a> with poinsettias, holly, pine cones, and more. The price was right so I decided to use the poinsettias and holly leaves instead of bows.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiP0BJkbxxNZjTA2FWA-zXhkFgQ6HA8FPbznK4oOAOPLpIK3OCeSso9W7xquwCWExK5ViYAqCt8MRdtDDeN9_OD5SwI5fv6SU523tH8qeOxGmTNsZR68r620JnQKKcPcYN7CRdgl6l1UcuN/s1600/DSC_0174.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiP0BJkbxxNZjTA2FWA-zXhkFgQ6HA8FPbznK4oOAOPLpIK3OCeSso9W7xquwCWExK5ViYAqCt8MRdtDDeN9_OD5SwI5fv6SU523tH8qeOxGmTNsZR68r620JnQKKcPcYN7CRdgl6l1UcuN/s320/DSC_0174.JPG" width="320" /></a><br />
I cut out everything on my ecraft cutter and decided to glitter everything up. WHAT A MESS! But it turned out pretty cool. If you do this I would definitely recommend using a box when using glitter.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfaHASPBgWg41LuiOrHoKaoYKj72oFKL7jWso1Snv9dPnwSWMa68tv9_A38Lerk8kMz3JmbDeSq9Bs5RVa5Gy0MBYZThLcBse3IjV9FyZ3ms8ycx3s7TuZVJUY8THsz7JZgE4OrolnLWZG/s1600/DSC_0195.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfaHASPBgWg41LuiOrHoKaoYKj72oFKL7jWso1Snv9dPnwSWMa68tv9_A38Lerk8kMz3JmbDeSq9Bs5RVa5Gy0MBYZThLcBse3IjV9FyZ3ms8ycx3s7TuZVJUY8THsz7JZgE4OrolnLWZG/s320/DSC_0195.JPG" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
After glittering the poinsettia I made fold down the middle of each of the petals. This gave the flowers some dimension.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
It turned out great! One Christmas to-do checked off. 5 million more to go.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="text-align: left;">I got this really cool idea for wall art when you have a large area to cover with limited amounts of funds. I printed out tons of butterflies on a specialty translucent paper. I wanted to be able to re-position the butterflies without leaving any sticky crud on my walls. I found the perfect adhesive pads that were just the ticket.</span><br />

I stuck 50 butterflies to my living room wall and folded up the wings. They looked awesome- very realistic. I fell in love, and so did everyone else who came over to visit. I don't think there was a singe person who didn't comment on the butterflies</div>

<div style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;">Finally I actually fully finished a project. This one was inspired by a <a href="http://funkyjunkinteriors.blogspot.com/2011/03/farmers-market-story-and-sign-reveal.html">Farmers Market sign</a> sign made by Donna over at Funky Junk Interiors. But I decided to take a little more of a French turn with it. </div><div style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><br />

Then I used some of Martha Steward's Weeping Willow Green Crackle Paint. Working with that stuff is a lot different than working with paint. It is this super thick paste that you have to smear on like butter. They recommend you use a pallet knife, which I didn't have so I used an old butter knife. The thicker you smear the paste the larger and more defined the cracks. I varied the thickness of the paste so I could get a nice mixture of fine small cracks and large pronounced cracks. I think it made a very cool effect. I made sure to be extra sloppy around the edges to give it that aged look. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAy2NtltV0yw8i5OQimHu6hV-DsNHQIvc215s0l_POrC2HcMtFodwORr3DMUTj3c4bGLNMFGtBx09ggjPqGydGTFuaa4kNfV3kuMrbBfJ0pf5EWAPW-tAHXSF_IAm_x8DpZSlR8UgDNOmq/s1600/flower+market+sign+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="450" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAy2NtltV0yw8i5OQimHu6hV-DsNHQIvc215s0l_POrC2HcMtFodwORr3DMUTj3c4bGLNMFGtBx09ggjPqGydGTFuaa4kNfV3kuMrbBfJ0pf5EWAPW-tAHXSF_IAm_x8DpZSlR8UgDNOmq/s640/flower+market+sign+2.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div align="center" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><br />

I decided to use real plants. I strung together some pots and tied them to a hook with twine. On the other side I installed a plant hanger and hung up some campanulas in an old copper tea kettle I found at the second hand store.<br />

I started an intense diet about a week ago (I know it isn't really good timing). So no mashed potatoes or pumpkin pie for me... oh, it is sooooo tragic. I cut out carbs and sugar... well except fruit- I don't think it is right to count fruit as a carb. Anyway to get my mind off the tasty delights, I have been crafting. I decided to make a wreath, my first ever wreath. I really like the process I'll have to make some more.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1nSfRRIxlXUjtLq6ijyrXM7PkaJLrIIKWbc3AJgkJY7dW1QnoEMFfh8Pjlp_3zxIFHSia-tNf4qO1fc8lyPOQZrGZ6z8T_6RssRJdzOaWPzoGk5Ljqxyhr_jTURzz56y3zUAWCrhiho-N/s1600/DSC_0692.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1nSfRRIxlXUjtLq6ijyrXM7PkaJLrIIKWbc3AJgkJY7dW1QnoEMFfh8Pjlp_3zxIFHSia-tNf4qO1fc8lyPOQZrGZ6z8T_6RssRJdzOaWPzoGk5Ljqxyhr_jTURzz56y3zUAWCrhiho-N/s400/DSC_0692.jpg" width="400" /></a></div> So I ran around like a chicken with my head cut off going to craft stores and the dollar store trying to find just the right materials to make my wreath. I got home late and couldn't wait to put it all together.<br />
<br />
I cut up strips of sheet music and glued them to a wire frame. Then I painted some wooden stars gold with brown edges to give it a shabby chic look. I glued on the painted stars ans some glittery ornamental stars.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJ71YMjy3F4-lc0xfsQAVMJLudbAZy-jSNL_SBHpZhfdIcJ2_DDJLdjmc07vmEVjvFQekv9VAopYAqfi7yOlR8MJaRPlUjJ94lMI1Wop9ae_6C0x5b2nkZfm2IJEwU0UpBCG_HYcGEkM-o/s1600/star+wreath+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJ71YMjy3F4-lc0xfsQAVMJLudbAZy-jSNL_SBHpZhfdIcJ2_DDJLdjmc07vmEVjvFQekv9VAopYAqfi7yOlR8MJaRPlUjJ94lMI1Wop9ae_6C0x5b2nkZfm2IJEwU0UpBCG_HYcGEkM-o/s640/star+wreath+3.jpg" width="401" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I really thought it would look great to incorporate tea lights in the wreath that way the glitter would really sparkle. So I wrapped wire around some upcycled baby food jars and secured them to the wire frame. That way the jars could hold little tea lights.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I tied a ribbon around the top and spiraled it around the wreath, and BAM- Christmas wreath!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzbPCahzOKtvHR4tWadFi8O4rzvg5rktwD7jdo18Z9TQvWuxV3pUK6l0ClrPsE0SvNO52ao9TCB5Ic1KqwsTSyUdrmP1_OlWwo0AlUidOwqJPgFiplZeKD54Z9l0pA4D-kytjcAoLyAU-W/s1600/star+wreath+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzbPCahzOKtvHR4tWadFi8O4rzvg5rktwD7jdo18Z9TQvWuxV3pUK6l0ClrPsE0SvNO52ao9TCB5Ic1KqwsTSyUdrmP1_OlWwo0AlUidOwqJPgFiplZeKD54Z9l0pA4D-kytjcAoLyAU-W/s640/star+wreath+1.jpg" width="562" /> </a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Now my advice I leave you with: if you want to watch your weight this holiday season, distract yourself with crafting. Have a happy Turkey Day! </div><br />

I am so happy to announce that I have successfully moved from apartment living to a cottage in the woods. I have moved back to the forested town in which I was born and raised. I think I will always be a mountain girl.<br />
<br />
I finally got a crib for my baby girl. Unfortunately I'm having separation anxiety not having her right next to me in bed. I think she is handling it better than I am. Anyway my neighbors had an extra crib they didn't need anymore so I took it off their hands. But this crib was an UGLY brown color. It was my moral duty to fix it up.<br />
<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> It took me five cans a spray paint for this one. I didn't occur to me at the time that spray paint isn't a good idea for furniture with a lot of open space. Yeah next time I think I'll use a canister of paint. But I am happy with the results. You've heard it before, but I'll say it again: It is amazing what a coat of paint can do!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div style="text-align: left;">I love making inventive things you don't find in stores, it's what I strive for in all my crafting. My latest little projects have been just that if I do say so myself. Teacup Candles! Yep I took teacups I found at second hand stores and gave them new life.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPZ3u9b-4afKzinR53fY_FdVaD63kTEYEGSIDGtpY67iScbdJ4Mr-oFhn_Avdjl256jpZJEJRpCrDN7gRa0BzzaHPs4LegA3LeSUW8XNaPtUDMKGSDWIAk1w0zX78WBsUUEHSTD7OIvzGL/s1600/green+teacup+candle+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="267" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPZ3u9b-4afKzinR53fY_FdVaD63kTEYEGSIDGtpY67iScbdJ4Mr-oFhn_Avdjl256jpZJEJRpCrDN7gRa0BzzaHPs4LegA3LeSUW8XNaPtUDMKGSDWIAk1w0zX78WBsUUEHSTD7OIvzGL/s400/green+teacup+candle+4.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;">First I paint the teacup. Then I glue a wick tab and wick inside the cup. Mix in dye and fragrance into soy wax. Let the candle cure. And finish it off with a cute tea tag. Of coarse you will have to cut the wick before you burn the candle. But I think these are one of those candles you never really burn because they are so darn cute.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0RPUGAPNYU4qDZGt0yDK-rmmxgaw1QWZfR8qcr5rN326oeesVkx7q0-3zN7a9BPTqTPF5xd4rcZRax4Fu7h0hq6wMB0-UEa1ssJ78bRGOr96e8kzR09nbyn93rAjErEzrepPtc4bULkwX/s1600/B+%252B+W+teacup+candle.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="267" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0RPUGAPNYU4qDZGt0yDK-rmmxgaw1QWZfR8qcr5rN326oeesVkx7q0-3zN7a9BPTqTPF5xd4rcZRax4Fu7h0hq6wMB0-UEa1ssJ78bRGOr96e8kzR09nbyn93rAjErEzrepPtc4bULkwX/s400/B+%252B+W+teacup+candle.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;">It harder than you might think putting stripes on a teacup. The tape you put down on the cup likes to crinkle and when using spray paint, the ridges in the tape become very apparent, so I had to go over them with acrylic paint.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />

One of my first craft drawings was a teacup candle with "Tea Time" written in curly cursive on the side. I pictured it being bright pink with black polka dots. Now I don't get to see my drawing come to life very often, but this one did. I am so happy with how it turned out.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSExlAFUzgSyb6wO_-TGOGjZFY81564B3ewy6B-EEex7YsQUO0sKoXs7m-m7REeMjAssAFVCSpuZtsFJhT2GFXYg5JhEKufXDhNEyZL7XllLepMJdiq1l6_twqNjPjDtG_VE0Cf5lpI07J/s1600/Steampunk+Teacup+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="427" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSExlAFUzgSyb6wO_-TGOGjZFY81564B3ewy6B-EEex7YsQUO0sKoXs7m-m7REeMjAssAFVCSpuZtsFJhT2GFXYg5JhEKufXDhNEyZL7XllLepMJdiq1l6_twqNjPjDtG_VE0Cf5lpI07J/s640/Steampunk+Teacup+1.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">Now this is probably my most impressive teacup candle yet. See I kind of have a problem with sticking to just one style (which is something I'm going to have to do one day to start a business). But the idea was just to awesome to pass up. So I made a steam punk teacup candle. And if you don't know what "steam punk" is, you should look it up. It is a very interesting style. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">For some reason I obsess over random things. Teacups are my current obsession along with cupcakes and bumblebees. I'm interested to know: What is your current obsession?<br />

So I've seen these cute little pea pod necklaces quite a bit. I've figured out how to make them. They are actually quite simple. Here's what you will need:<br />
<br />
Wire<br />
3 beads that look like peas<br />
a pair of jewelry pliers<br />
1 head pin (about 2 in. long)<br />
Wire cutters or an old pair of scissors<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBC9yGVKQ7xAlSFFrNej4xxWGPX1CPfDjD4W8lk7iLaoDgPWWbmYQpQGA1tcygoiZe-XEoCrGEpmCvi87kg34fDHwZeeXzmdLaeN-Ene3IiPppqc1vjhcxUDeWfKgprrsp1ePicS8oEsWQ/s1600/Peapod+necklace+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="178" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBC9yGVKQ7xAlSFFrNej4xxWGPX1CPfDjD4W8lk7iLaoDgPWWbmYQpQGA1tcygoiZe-XEoCrGEpmCvi87kg34fDHwZeeXzmdLaeN-Ene3IiPppqc1vjhcxUDeWfKgprrsp1ePicS8oEsWQ/s320/Peapod+necklace+1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
First get you head pin and wrap the wire tightly about 1/4" from the head of the pin.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoZi6de2Sa3gqEAnrtOyylN5IqtFfmgU1qT4ebFfTbrusZxsfG6VFEuzQp1c7xn9cmCL9XHg3emQERHpUqcFg3ifh6WJ4IDC1HecvdDcYEq2ELMfOuWH8D29hc7byLeTB16su1Yv1ji74a/s1600/Peapod+necklace+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoZi6de2Sa3gqEAnrtOyylN5IqtFfmgU1qT4ebFfTbrusZxsfG6VFEuzQp1c7xn9cmCL9XHg3emQERHpUqcFg3ifh6WJ4IDC1HecvdDcYEq2ELMfOuWH8D29hc7byLeTB16su1Yv1ji74a/s320/Peapod+necklace+2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<br />
Then you slide on your beads.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhd_5h9VmvRnBPg5iuyUWpwMD3ts9h2Z5NXfbaIoxri5TbUzlxeFRut6p2voiXxbBVu2Wz09GA93Cbke0kWa8KsLNoRhChscGQuiRYIydeoNMl1p2xgP7tehrOGYWC1GFIf8HMTnFvqvkfx/s1600/Peapod+necklace+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="198" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhd_5h9VmvRnBPg5iuyUWpwMD3ts9h2Z5NXfbaIoxri5TbUzlxeFRut6p2voiXxbBVu2Wz09GA93Cbke0kWa8KsLNoRhChscGQuiRYIydeoNMl1p2xgP7tehrOGYWC1GFIf8HMTnFvqvkfx/s320/Peapod+necklace+3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<br />
Pull the wire along the beads to the other end of the pin and tightly wrap the wire around pin closest to the beads like so:<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIvzqu9gR8y-SoUjE9hBeHvZSVTzjc2E57OhXyUXwV6pxIjxQ06Rum25lsQJ3SqFB85Wz8XawrPaQp7zwWvppo-afaYghX_v1ISsrVKowDuU3GMTcUOwwm1vSL77bl9C34Wa3z7ooaDXCr/s1600/Peapod+necklace+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="202" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIvzqu9gR8y-SoUjE9hBeHvZSVTzjc2E57OhXyUXwV6pxIjxQ06Rum25lsQJ3SqFB85Wz8XawrPaQp7zwWvppo-afaYghX_v1ISsrVKowDuU3GMTcUOwwm1vSL77bl9C34Wa3z7ooaDXCr/s320/Peapod+necklace+4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Then pull the wire down the other side of the beads and wrap it around the first end. You can already see the pea pod coming together!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3R2t2G5qs49z9JJeJSkxg8OhtJwPj4hR8oOSQQvuw-5xJxSQUhp8hV_EpqD4Wv5KREtGQccs8ABpSbNaQMmfu4u9L33IUfEVsj_QV1hWekzsaI4UH3PZis-XYnBUuYS3bpPXYnpLkI-wW/s1600/Peapod+necklace+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="205" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3R2t2G5qs49z9JJeJSkxg8OhtJwPj4hR8oOSQQvuw-5xJxSQUhp8hV_EpqD4Wv5KREtGQccs8ABpSbNaQMmfu4u9L33IUfEVsj_QV1hWekzsaI4UH3PZis-XYnBUuYS3bpPXYnpLkI-wW/s320/Peapod+necklace+5.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>Now you are going to continue wrapping the wire up the sides and around the pin until you are satisfied with the results. The wires are going to try to overlap one another, so try to hold them in place when you are wrapping the wire. And make sure you stay consistent with the direction you wrap the wire around the pin (across the front of the pin, around the back then down the other side of the beads). If you don't stay consistent with the direction you won't get the pretty braided look of the wire.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvgmxrtq6f_B5b9WELKg4TCVpdYcpWVDtw_THImF3YzzasuPmaL_XbcLTmsAm6FvL5kQrYdgzBam4jHn4rZBsSqGb7Rthyphenhyphenla8zOdWi4SPc_WxkQML3mDULcF-8gvWcWlVinaEVQkml4790/s1600/Peapod+necklace+6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="198" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvgmxrtq6f_B5b9WELKg4TCVpdYcpWVDtw_THImF3YzzasuPmaL_XbcLTmsAm6FvL5kQrYdgzBam4jHn4rZBsSqGb7Rthyphenhyphenla8zOdWi4SPc_WxkQML3mDULcF-8gvWcWlVinaEVQkml4790/s320/Peapod+necklace+6.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>When you get to the back of the beads you are going to pull the wire into place so it can cover the back. The back should look something like the picture on the left.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIhodA6-aLNcGqTagrA78Z2MomgxtuvRLG_feCNQdf25Sh8FthmRtrN0qaYFcXqbScVDhCSLdMwDjKNg4CWqlqOR1s7nLkfCN4qGD7x05I-NX_7oKHp-7y1zOmKoaJn8fBuyj1fx8eRj4V/s1600/Peapod+necklace+7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="227" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIhodA6-aLNcGqTagrA78Z2MomgxtuvRLG_feCNQdf25Sh8FthmRtrN0qaYFcXqbScVDhCSLdMwDjKNg4CWqlqOR1s7nLkfCN4qGD7x05I-NX_7oKHp-7y1zOmKoaJn8fBuyj1fx8eRj4V/s320/Peapod+necklace+7.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>Now at this point you probably only have a tiny portion of the head pin sticking out of the top. It is to small to make a loop so I just used my jewelry pliers to bend it toward the back. Sorry you can't see it very well in the photo.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwwJTWWxF77phrV5eyGpfZjdJeRAV1YlTpazOViAtStdT7DdGs0OF3bufLOIMRqAQWOUt-6h_CK9YIgMbm9KfYbvKJw5HpT7_vCyy5suodUjb_oVL795GPo3lGjdeMN7G1b4hVOj3_3CUA/s1600/Peapod+necklace+8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwwJTWWxF77phrV5eyGpfZjdJeRAV1YlTpazOViAtStdT7DdGs0OF3bufLOIMRqAQWOUt-6h_CK9YIgMbm9KfYbvKJw5HpT7_vCyy5suodUjb_oVL795GPo3lGjdeMN7G1b4hVOj3_3CUA/s320/Peapod+necklace+8.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<br />
Now you are going to press the wire in to hug the beads with your fingers.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSXzEiwrQWtL7TjIGfBDO_E-X_f_h2hi29XpXaLaclQ8CsXrtOzY4qv58v85AMSy59GcA6wlA5AZS8rQXsDDGeUW8Hi68fEyNV7mFvDt4S6F-s8ftpUzLYUVPQsgG06oxDvoxR1OtjgGss/s1600/Peapod+necklace+9.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSXzEiwrQWtL7TjIGfBDO_E-X_f_h2hi29XpXaLaclQ8CsXrtOzY4qv58v85AMSy59GcA6wlA5AZS8rQXsDDGeUW8Hi68fEyNV7mFvDt4S6F-s8ftpUzLYUVPQsgG06oxDvoxR1OtjgGss/s320/Peapod+necklace+9.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<br />
Now cut the wire that it attached to the top of your pea pod to about 2 or 3 in.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5UoNDL5-0sgLUUa6QbSUwux1q_ahaP0Vsd5W30dw8hQH6Uxdvs21gTntDlnzBNSc8VxWRk27S5oTz8notMjpquk6CdYrU9e6JdmDbzTIp6KfY2AWnYifVCvon-cINQwuhdnBJtQiCUtUQ/s1600/Peapod+necklace+10.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5UoNDL5-0sgLUUa6QbSUwux1q_ahaP0Vsd5W30dw8hQH6Uxdvs21gTntDlnzBNSc8VxWRk27S5oTz8notMjpquk6CdYrU9e6JdmDbzTIp6KfY2AWnYifVCvon-cINQwuhdnBJtQiCUtUQ/s320/Peapod+necklace+10.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<br />
Wrap a loop with your pliers at the top of the pea pod. <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvxKkmuQUmo77Ra6TOjb8l0tCfOQ_fiB3ZXQxxersFpoGIZemRc4wlNb-UOit4hnF4o1tgh4_X-WZh3oscwNesdlZFAkzhHTFu1uPfjBSUBPgxn0y3ilGetOYFRYXConXAPqIqyPwaRRUS/s1600/Peapod+necklace+11.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvxKkmuQUmo77Ra6TOjb8l0tCfOQ_fiB3ZXQxxersFpoGIZemRc4wlNb-UOit4hnF4o1tgh4_X-WZh3oscwNesdlZFAkzhHTFu1uPfjBSUBPgxn0y3ilGetOYFRYXConXAPqIqyPwaRRUS/s320/Peapod+necklace+11.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<br />
Then you are going to tightly wrap the wire around the base of the loop 3 or 4 times until you cover up the folded-over head pin.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
You can stop there and trim the wire. Or you can curl the extra wire to make a curly vine. As pictured below: <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh91uoQA0YyBMq7Pfug86QDNX5bdhspaEJ8cSFnumYTPedKFV2YmW6h7ZN-YX-rOBTCzBntiORAnk5EL-fTyEpNbr7aMtBa8vgwiUkNwWGzdYG8-IzrVBUG26qX7N71NJKtIg_88Z_Bt470/s1600/Peapod+necklace+12.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="492" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh91uoQA0YyBMq7Pfug86QDNX5bdhspaEJ8cSFnumYTPedKFV2YmW6h7ZN-YX-rOBTCzBntiORAnk5EL-fTyEpNbr7aMtBa8vgwiUkNwWGzdYG8-IzrVBUG26qX7N71NJKtIg_88Z_Bt470/s640/Peapod+necklace+12.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
Slip the charm on a chain to make it a necklace or bracelet. Put it on your key chain or attach them to ear wires to make cute earrings. So many possibilities!<br />

I am adjusting to going back to work after my beloved maternity leave. In my absence I have been squeezing as much crafting into my free time as possible. I've been making some teacup candles (super cute) and a ball candle of all colors. I'm not finished with them yet, but I'll post pictures when I am done. </div><div style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;">What I have dedicating most of my time toward is making purses. I'm have some really cute and unique purses in store. I'm aiming to make them really cute, colorful, and something that you probably haven't seen before. So check in every once in a while to see what I'll make next.</div><div style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><br />

</div><br />
My maternity leave has sadly come to an end and next week I start the ever-so-dreaded work again...*sigh*. Well it was nice while it lasted. So I decided to do my last little free woman hurrah and take a nice litttle trip to Grass Valley (California) to have dinner and go to the local Farmer's Market. I saw some amazing things which gave me great photo ops. So enjoy!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEho6Hn_SOzeRhN8iEJyawh4h4lyVdAcofjfj9m4kPouzBTDC9eLA-D-dj539mwACoA0TVsrtX-nwEd0XqV3P309-PoW38NdC1uM59tN4DpaPRoqUBtGYCCNiRDGgN-ZwikYyuvUHwPhDHHO/s1600/old+door.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEho6Hn_SOzeRhN8iEJyawh4h4lyVdAcofjfj9m4kPouzBTDC9eLA-D-dj539mwACoA0TVsrtX-nwEd0XqV3P309-PoW38NdC1uM59tN4DpaPRoqUBtGYCCNiRDGgN-ZwikYyuvUHwPhDHHO/s400/old+door.jpg" width="266" /></a></div><br />
<br />
We had dinner at this Mexican restaurant, unfortunately I can't remember the name but the decor was awesome. We sat outside and they had these garland with cutout paper designs flapping in the breeze overhead and white roses going everywhere. They had religious icon statues and old doorway that lead to nowhere. <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidPD-Tcs0KzVIZ4TytjopIsFAs6W6aakvPzQNlKxaRjyjWpr11EJcCmdlBLZEA1Tqi1-gx27bxzUir_hiBwchS4uf1HgNZmT6yrCzvrlThWdActYBuFJkrNNoaLE3hDL7FwyDk7_gL6RRS/s1600/wall+art.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidPD-Tcs0KzVIZ4TytjopIsFAs6W6aakvPzQNlKxaRjyjWpr11EJcCmdlBLZEA1Tqi1-gx27bxzUir_hiBwchS4uf1HgNZmT6yrCzvrlThWdActYBuFJkrNNoaLE3hDL7FwyDk7_gL6RRS/s400/wall+art.jpg" width="277" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
There were these super vibrant bird cages hanging on the stucko wall. <br />

<br />
<br />
ooo... and a Lion head fountain.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0V9ngxTyvPyQ0SVocgXrfMUIU11LpXjN_cJyUrFVQMl7wglT7F_hCD9SzJe-9dgKnrO58-hK32Wj2n3Cf9aUz9H20WVB7F9IE7KIKCetwZL3_lJWwOWG0P-wMvl_z5H3Q2ZDPSlfHEbu8/s1600/trumpet+player.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="317" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0V9ngxTyvPyQ0SVocgXrfMUIU11LpXjN_cJyUrFVQMl7wglT7F_hCD9SzJe-9dgKnrO58-hK32Wj2n3Cf9aUz9H20WVB7F9IE7KIKCetwZL3_lJWwOWG0P-wMvl_z5H3Q2ZDPSlfHEbu8/s320/trumpet+player.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<br />
After dinner we walked up the street to the Farmer's Market. They had all kinds of produce, crafts, and even live music... After I took this guy's picture he looked up at me and winked. <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />

<br />
The produce there just looked mouth-watering. The cherries really caught my eye.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
I found a booth run by an old man who made charming bird houses.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />

I think my favorite one was this one made out of corks... how inventive!<br />
<br />

A lady there did all kinds of glass art. But she got mad when I snapped a photo of her work...oops.<br />

So one thing you don't know about me is that I love photography. I fell in love with it in high school and I've kept with it since then. If the photography industry wasn't so cut-throat and jam packed I probably would have become a photographer. Anyway here is some stuff I'm pretty proud of:<br />
<br />
<br />

<br />
Hopefully everyone had a nice three day weekend. I for one did. I got to catch up on a lot of craft projects that have been sitting on the shelf. So I'll share one with you guys today. It's a really cute one. Why do we think miniature things are so damn adorable? Anyway here we go:<br />
<br />
Supplies:<br />
Foam Core Sheet<br />
Card Stock (various colors)<br />
Small Scissors<br />
Glue<br />
<br />
Optional:<br />
Printer<br />
Scalloped Scissors<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUSWn7nabGUdW9ZQ4NlfjxGOKZa0EgMGc24JDSE2tV55CTyu-lLR-bCyh1VHFuhT0wD6gbQaHKAf0gp3wnK5cJER0umxVcvveHAlwFIVVu3OftCD9XxJr3prl0kwTEMhDOvwcOPVuemdF6/s1600/mini+house+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUSWn7nabGUdW9ZQ4NlfjxGOKZa0EgMGc24JDSE2tV55CTyu-lLR-bCyh1VHFuhT0wD6gbQaHKAf0gp3wnK5cJER0umxVcvveHAlwFIVVu3OftCD9XxJr3prl0kwTEMhDOvwcOPVuemdF6/s320/mini+house+1.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><br />
So first you want to cut a simple 2D house shape out of your foam core sheet (a square with a triangle on top). Then glue your shape back onto the foam core, and cut out your shape again. You will be doing this around 6 or 7 times until you get your desired house depth. It will look like this: <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnOdBdFJh6CsgRAUQWHukGIa8BdSKXrnOpfXQmW_57snBAT0HQZRpG2DTdmD_PKQsY9zYf8-XDK5PK-_IBTxB-R4Pcepxv62_swSvm-a8i0_lChfxedfblE1ZewHpjzD6_o8qNxw7Vn9Uu/s1600/mini+house+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="284" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnOdBdFJh6CsgRAUQWHukGIa8BdSKXrnOpfXQmW_57snBAT0HQZRpG2DTdmD_PKQsY9zYf8-XDK5PK-_IBTxB-R4Pcepxv62_swSvm-a8i0_lChfxedfblE1ZewHpjzD6_o8qNxw7Vn9Uu/s320/mini+house+2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Then take your colored card stock and cut out a strip long enough to reach all the way around your mini house and tall enough to reach the peak of the roof. Then wrap it around the house.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjezAoW6CJPxMuMrq-b0BoYSAdpfApIrnOPJxNrYg0Msx2d67Rujapqwq8OiBFwvnHWNpj3rEDzDsRolXk8NWCHNe7npqLKK4-g2b-w2Nhr_NorCyqBYK53edR61MMggr3dTYrCLEtYB3U_/s1600/mini+house+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="293" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjezAoW6CJPxMuMrq-b0BoYSAdpfApIrnOPJxNrYg0Msx2d67Rujapqwq8OiBFwvnHWNpj3rEDzDsRolXk8NWCHNe7npqLKK4-g2b-w2Nhr_NorCyqBYK53edR61MMggr3dTYrCLEtYB3U_/s320/mini+house+3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Glue down the card stock on the front face of the house. Don't glue the rest of the sides yet or it will be hard to work with. Now take your scissors and trim the lining of the house.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyoNMN491lRRvfBHIejNEfk3uin7eMonVyW-6picbD0ucmD-EGPtkKXplVgR74rBCrRWqUtP0BMRNjAHXamoidjKjvmVE25EAmeBc32RAyx_8LTHsz2NXXvPQNyiENwHVGjgQv_-67xpxW/s1600/mini+house+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="288" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyoNMN491lRRvfBHIejNEfk3uin7eMonVyW-6picbD0ucmD-EGPtkKXplVgR74rBCrRWqUtP0BMRNjAHXamoidjKjvmVE25EAmeBc32RAyx_8LTHsz2NXXvPQNyiENwHVGjgQv_-67xpxW/s320/mini+house+4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Now you can glue down all the sides.<br />
<br />
<br />

Measure both slants of the roof and add the measurements together and tack on a little extra (maybe 1/4" or so) to include the overhanging part of the roof. Measure front to back (also tacking on a little extra). Once you get your measurements cut out your roof. I'm going to use a pair of scalloped scissors to cut it out.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbhiGCtxVtm_8JOPD8Ck2qZcrnSNKoa1Uu75rQP6sI9OWZlhCXJfxwSd_n8cBQtlve9zWiJ-vTLH0ZhlW-N8Gic3u9iKbWUUZp7DoK2vmXdvPsOZ33ZryRj_1tpY5jGaXF1uy1egnM7XB5/s1600/mini+house+6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="281" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbhiGCtxVtm_8JOPD8Ck2qZcrnSNKoa1Uu75rQP6sI9OWZlhCXJfxwSd_n8cBQtlve9zWiJ-vTLH0ZhlW-N8Gic3u9iKbWUUZp7DoK2vmXdvPsOZ33ZryRj_1tpY5jGaXF1uy1egnM7XB5/s320/mini+house+6.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
This is the roof I cut out.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgV97FlMOnyn4V9-qWu1cfrpHe3OFuYAA8kbmtBhRKjld35zS5vigKeRDIiLb56kxiCD3GQg4OfAYwmVGR6YGnfNCJ7oXrCY9PQxi8dfvpn-WD8jxdyPyJReDoJXIA8ZaVFakAKxFCcGUqb/s1600/mini+house+7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="278" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgV97FlMOnyn4V9-qWu1cfrpHe3OFuYAA8kbmtBhRKjld35zS5vigKeRDIiLb56kxiCD3GQg4OfAYwmVGR6YGnfNCJ7oXrCY9PQxi8dfvpn-WD8jxdyPyJReDoJXIA8ZaVFakAKxFCcGUqb/s320/mini+house+7.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<br />
Once your roof is cut out, place it atop the house and press down to form a curved crease.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhN4FOw43N6Skl5qCCWcnUhmzmlwuOCu9HT3EZzMOU23nLXFJbWfS3vyDcvieBfdeF1d5J2oXJud3NuCdCLTSUpzAVai6YHwUE01Xy7WYd5ekXnCsQkBBsxM6rKts4Ewjea4t6N_q6CcHQ/s1600/mini+house+8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="267" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhN4FOw43N6Skl5qCCWcnUhmzmlwuOCu9HT3EZzMOU23nLXFJbWfS3vyDcvieBfdeF1d5J2oXJud3NuCdCLTSUpzAVai6YHwUE01Xy7WYd5ekXnCsQkBBsxM6rKts4Ewjea4t6N_q6CcHQ/s320/mini+house+8.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Cut a small line in the middle of the crease and fold it so one side of the crease is overlapping the other. then glue the roof on. Glue the overhanging pieces down. And glue down the overlapping cut in the crease you just made.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4qjbDt5KSY1Mddh79Q8exdEjb4cx4NQZCMAImzSjTdaIveeri0JkcOjHeiSCuU1ViboddqKiq6SFsv-oOxX_TztIFam8g226B72FevI4jnkuiHvNBFVhc7ckgJeik2A4jdkpBq42oFknK/s1600/mini+house+9.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="255" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4qjbDt5KSY1Mddh79Q8exdEjb4cx4NQZCMAImzSjTdaIveeri0JkcOjHeiSCuU1ViboddqKiq6SFsv-oOxX_TztIFam8g226B72FevI4jnkuiHvNBFVhc7ckgJeik2A4jdkpBq42oFknK/s320/mini+house+9.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<br />
You can glue on the bottom if you like. Just cut out a rectangle as big as needed and glue to the bottom.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Now you can cut out tiny embellishments out of card stock or paper. I made mine on photoshop using the ruler as a very helpful guide and printed them out. But if you don't want to hassle with that then you can just cut shapes out of your colored card stock. I highly recommend using small scissors because it is really hard to cut out such tiny things with big scissors. Glue on your doors, steps, windows, awnings, bushes, etc. And now you have your very own cute little house. <br />
<br />

It was in pretty good shape, but it was pretty plain looking and it had pen marks all over the inside.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgm8pJxH90XCEDvPSA0NHSjI76gyILvKwjQJ774kHJipNarRQoBx_4iZg7BoctlczVFLRSuwtG1Efpx48yIuvCA8QpxiQdta2afF9GHDB0QC8xvu6Bj89WINPycvFstQ35-snUZ9u3a86V/s1600/desk+organizer+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgm8pJxH90XCEDvPSA0NHSjI76gyILvKwjQJ774kHJipNarRQoBx_4iZg7BoctlczVFLRSuwtG1Efpx48yIuvCA8QpxiQdta2afF9GHDB0QC8xvu6Bj89WINPycvFstQ35-snUZ9u3a86V/s320/desk+organizer+2.jpg" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
So I spray painted the entire thing white.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhr14TXCBM0sFNt3LaXK3B3BH4ZfNz05BvTKz8sSljZAhXVz_NafvJ1wdKSG9crDfzSDDiCn-6EBVc3YoDUskU8ufPgIVOpSGUSDpNRUH1ekoHmIf5xySnA37ohKchtkXdUKhuFTwoks0Nu/s1600/desk+organizer+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="248" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhr14TXCBM0sFNt3LaXK3B3BH4ZfNz05BvTKz8sSljZAhXVz_NafvJ1wdKSG9crDfzSDDiCn-6EBVc3YoDUskU8ufPgIVOpSGUSDpNRUH1ekoHmIf5xySnA37ohKchtkXdUKhuFTwoks0Nu/s320/desk+organizer+3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>I pulled lace trim around the edge as tight as it would go (scalloped side up). And I spayed painted over the lace with very light bursts from the spray paint can.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7WUCQGxMbCdRudpqGz1OlUFWtBU_sOMSiDaQnLZGmMrDcXju95HBmVDV8YUUt_D2RFgES3yHf-zltrwVdfVuDdwCs_MuqMHxmyGQvo1vZ3SEt9E7fF_CKbeA4t4g06E0BUIlNR308ABXP/s1600/desk+organizer+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="263" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7WUCQGxMbCdRudpqGz1OlUFWtBU_sOMSiDaQnLZGmMrDcXju95HBmVDV8YUUt_D2RFgES3yHf-zltrwVdfVuDdwCs_MuqMHxmyGQvo1vZ3SEt9E7fF_CKbeA4t4g06E0BUIlNR308ABXP/s320/desk+organizer+4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>I was surprised at how neat the detail turned out. It reminds me of a photo darkroom technique I learned in high school where you plop an object on a piece of photo sensitive paper and expose the whole paper to light. Then when you develop the whole thing you get a nice silhouette of your object. <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Here is the final not-so-boring version of my thrift store find:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcl7lyCx0eCxSq4BPtdMfLR5uLqZyW1TOhg6U4k71j_cfbcmQlokashsmkuHNjG1TSpOiq7JOWhyphenhyphenlj0ypUAUMZf5ZAas6Dj_rTFSi9hyphenhyphen1l_Xp2u9U9rt-lVWGsc4mOqnW3X_MUpOFLgHU9/s1600/desk+organizer+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcl7lyCx0eCxSq4BPtdMfLR5uLqZyW1TOhg6U4k71j_cfbcmQlokashsmkuHNjG1TSpOiq7JOWhyphenhyphenlj0ypUAUMZf5ZAas6Dj_rTFSi9hyphenhyphen1l_Xp2u9U9rt-lVWGsc4mOqnW3X_MUpOFLgHU9/s320/desk+organizer+5.jpg" width="237" /> </a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And speaking of great finds. I came across this old musky junk store that was filled with ancient odds and ends. There was old license plates hanging from the ceiling, antiqued silver spoons, worn horse saddles, various dusty jars with wiggly glass and disintegrating tin boxes. There were button jars filled with god-awful ugly buttons from all eras. Old tools to work on machinery and rusted oil cans. There was a lot of vintage Coca Cola merchandise and even an unopened bottle from the 50s... eaw. There was a weather vein, super old trading cards, and steel ball bearings. I even saw a military ID there from the 1940s. The place was quite charming in an "old broken down barn" type of way. I had to get something, so I looked through the spoons. I picked up 3 spoons which had engravings on the back that said "1847 Roger Bros". Just think... who has eaten off of those spoons in their 150 years of existence? I did some research on the spoons and apparently in 1947 the Roger Brothers perfected the silver plating technique and mass produced these puppies. </div><div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Another thing I came across was this old cigar box. For some reason I am in love with boxes, so I had to buy it. The top of the box read George W. Childs. I did some research and found out a lot about this guy. He lived 1829- 1894 and was born into a poor family and worked his way up to become a successful business man at a very early age (he opened up his own law firm at 18!!!) He excelled in many fields and was known above everything else as being a philanthropist. George W. Childs's Cigars were produced in the late 1800s and early 1900s, making the box over 100 years old! </div><div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>Dreams are important. They are kind of like fuel for the soul, and without them life just doesn't seem worthwhile. A really big dream I have going on right now is a craft studio. I live in an apartment where there is just no room for that kind of a thing. But one day I will have my own little craft cave. I have a pretty good idea about what I want it to look like. It's going to sound a bit outrageous, but I think it makes for a petri dish of creativity. Ok here goes:<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEid79u4X9M7lS3lINT2kShj1Oo3Br2iJzZpyg_K27dzXRJKR6vAe8Bij_HgqUddYlWzDDVQu8FZ_iTQDhRUQmzmFmZZ-386UV9pFYvbOu7Q_HELUfRKuybQbOIv9lwyWpfZjzz_5QIRvvmh/s1600/pinkpillowwall.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEid79u4X9M7lS3lINT2kShj1Oo3Br2iJzZpyg_K27dzXRJKR6vAe8Bij_HgqUddYlWzDDVQu8FZ_iTQDhRUQmzmFmZZ-386UV9pFYvbOu7Q_HELUfRKuybQbOIv9lwyWpfZjzz_5QIRvvmh/s320/pinkpillowwall.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>So I would like my craft studio to have a lot of windows and be flooded with sunlight. There will be big trelous covered in ivy INSIDE my studio. I want rows and rows of apothecary jars holding various buttons, beads, and findings. Balls of yarn will dandle off of the ceiling. I want vintage pictures to hang on the walls. The floor will have white and yellow checkered tiles. I want Robin's Egg Blue walls except one of the walls, which should be a pink padded pillow wall that looks something like this picture I made.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaY5u2RTNyJB0rvLZauB8zTaQPcQMaf9cD6B_5oWWpWmVBuVs1j1YnFVDcxaOWMaZrRRnFgMcd72aDj_QtqncTyMLCGIGpqwMZd4xWu1wHfHvz5eKHLO8jJapWdJF0rRyzZZFcmV1H9pzu/s1600/hat+lampl.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaY5u2RTNyJB0rvLZauB8zTaQPcQMaf9cD6B_5oWWpWmVBuVs1j1YnFVDcxaOWMaZrRRnFgMcd72aDj_QtqncTyMLCGIGpqwMZd4xWu1wHfHvz5eKHLO8jJapWdJF0rRyzZZFcmV1H9pzu/s320/hat+lampl.jpg" width="214" /></a></div>Pretty much the place is going to slap you in the face with color. I want a whole bunch of clear plastic labeled drawers, so I can know what's inside, and a bookshelf (filled with craft books) covered in old chipped paint that reaches all the way to the ceiling. Hanging by the window would be a pair of sheer white curtains and a wind chime. Instead of a computer chair there would be a rocking chair. And there would be and old floor lamp with a sun hat for a lampshade. Actually I already have the rocking chair and the hatted lamp, so I can check those off my list. There would be lots of colored glass bottles to catch the sun rays, and small buckets hanging from the walls to put markers and pens in. there would be a big birdcage with lots of chubby little birds. Ah yes... one day.<br />
<br />
So I searched around for some crafty studios and I ran across some pretty neat stuff. The pictures below are the best ones I found in different styles.<br />

So lets do a tutorial today. I'm going to show you how to make a flower/ bow out of tulle or tissue paper. This looks great on gifts.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIGJdm7mWdsNmal3uWmTu6PVKaUtrLFAaKlxRZlHqa4jCqeqKg5zyI_OeeoeOpfTWcl2lnTy19BkCMIq2guhD-sMNvgasvLW2pe6yML7Q9GLUiE0N2sDF8sfh30FmMWzTd0ewPgowfrxge/s1600/Tulle+Circles.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIGJdm7mWdsNmal3uWmTu6PVKaUtrLFAaKlxRZlHqa4jCqeqKg5zyI_OeeoeOpfTWcl2lnTy19BkCMIq2guhD-sMNvgasvLW2pe6yML7Q9GLUiE0N2sDF8sfh30FmMWzTd0ewPgowfrxge/s320/Tulle+Circles.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
First cut out four or five circles in your tulle. They don't need to be perfect because you really won't be able to tell.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZK_ik1IjwyPu4Xoj36WhK4IFt0dhA-q5NaLLMRz11b95cwE1AkMw8SmXXBNqr4YsG4XsIH_za8UG1Y4sIyH6aVFFhyeFrk9yOlN2KBqoHywHrJ5fN1eReBwadkxJwoO4gcNofyyMW58yS/s1600/Tulle+Quarters.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZK_ik1IjwyPu4Xoj36WhK4IFt0dhA-q5NaLLMRz11b95cwE1AkMw8SmXXBNqr4YsG4XsIH_za8UG1Y4sIyH6aVFFhyeFrk9yOlN2KBqoHywHrJ5fN1eReBwadkxJwoO4gcNofyyMW58yS/s320/Tulle+Quarters.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Then take a circle and fold it into quarters.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0eHSackl4kaFqXOVQZziOGwbrwFKQrAgaYpwydG5OmzbD6lCvq5WfLOvUDoi9WleibQ0isWY8gBBDSTjxyatct5TnhbogcLhX1Kd_TpgZAUQlytEKfUcssBD1Bp0V8W9S5rPKrYpakcr1/s1600/twist.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0eHSackl4kaFqXOVQZziOGwbrwFKQrAgaYpwydG5OmzbD6lCvq5WfLOvUDoi9WleibQ0isWY8gBBDSTjxyatct5TnhbogcLhX1Kd_TpgZAUQlytEKfUcssBD1Bp0V8W9S5rPKrYpakcr1/s320/twist.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Then fold all of your circles like that. Put then all together and twist the bottom. Secure with a ribbon.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSK3v0z2rc3UQC44S4Hlv5HaYtL9_oIVD3NPyL-x1oeh0cKb4w2xAuimd_Q1PKmoUC2JcpE9OuqwqRRoNfgstG8uXANC2gT5rXH2U2xNZ-f_s2mXP9xGWmbSYF0PuZndgdxy6HaKiRMXkd/s1600/Tulle+Bow.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSK3v0z2rc3UQC44S4Hlv5HaYtL9_oIVD3NPyL-x1oeh0cKb4w2xAuimd_Q1PKmoUC2JcpE9OuqwqRRoNfgstG8uXANC2gT5rXH2U2xNZ-f_s2mXP9xGWmbSYF0PuZndgdxy6HaKiRMXkd/s320/Tulle+Bow.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>Now that the bow is made, adhere it to the present. I tried to tape the tulle bow, but that didn't work at all. So I hot glued it and that did the trick. <br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3AGaQEnqZHUoklmACo3LPdh3MetGDznbbksY7Hot1q8otNnHCKyEogfOzbNS49TrXVPpwPTYvUvafR2mry10LBTZZ5TllRsW6vjDx54TO_k3c-VJfCMGE2U4NlTDUStSSEyCuiVZsCan7/s1600/tissue+paper+flower.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="243" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3AGaQEnqZHUoklmACo3LPdh3MetGDznbbksY7Hot1q8otNnHCKyEogfOzbNS49TrXVPpwPTYvUvafR2mry10LBTZZ5TllRsW6vjDx54TO_k3c-VJfCMGE2U4NlTDUStSSEyCuiVZsCan7/s320/tissue+paper+flower.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>You can make a flower out of tissue paper doing the same thing shown above. Make four circles one color and one circle another color. Surround the single color with the remainder circles. You can crumple the edges if you like. <br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh92pTwk96w-VZl5dSGaXZNhYXEQWcJ0Nrk8qU3T4R6c7Mhc4by48e4HQLyETIeXIxBvpyfHLJP17M979qO8IeFc_BXk4TWgwlvh9lkLxB1hl8lt2CWsAD4pcVGzdE08jnbeHPqDvNY2yhy/s1600/frame.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="228" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh92pTwk96w-VZl5dSGaXZNhYXEQWcJ0Nrk8qU3T4R6c7Mhc4by48e4HQLyETIeXIxBvpyfHLJP17M979qO8IeFc_BXk4TWgwlvh9lkLxB1hl8lt2CWsAD4pcVGzdE08jnbeHPqDvNY2yhy/s320/frame.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>"What am I putting in these presents?" you ask. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnPdQGP-ppOCE2Li-gJfvg2qIBZK4w7AhhiC7487DTmwh-Mi789bWv4aP7oxnOqz4qY2EapThg9Q59BJ0mYPLepV2-5e8WWtER0DcKZI4mIX1r7JnX7HC69GqUBvlLHkoKtZE29Rj3xAdC/s1600/Birdfeeder.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnPdQGP-ppOCE2Li-gJfvg2qIBZK4w7AhhiC7487DTmwh-Mi789bWv4aP7oxnOqz4qY2EapThg9Q59BJ0mYPLepV2-5e8WWtER0DcKZI4mIX1r7JnX7HC69GqUBvlLHkoKtZE29Rj3xAdC/s320/Birdfeeder.jpg" width="214" /></a></div>Well Spring has most definitely sprung. It's the time to say good-bye to frumpy sweaters and say hello to swishy skirts and pedicures. Remember the feeling of your bear feet on grass? Remember sitting on the porch at night time? Remember the sounds of birds chirping in the morning? Well it's all back!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjc5huJnZC9lhJpVkjt-4IDDqR3hPYIosa39sk5YcqefXJy0hfKNbQjmJW9qciPgOffFiBpkX_7zs3jAdgzs99NPUejt0zPO07D8i4EjoEK6zCdBwVsH38wnjXekOvSa8y7XnAgv-3_nfGQ/s1600/purpleflowers.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="178" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjc5huJnZC9lhJpVkjt-4IDDqR3hPYIosa39sk5YcqefXJy0hfKNbQjmJW9qciPgOffFiBpkX_7zs3jAdgzs99NPUejt0zPO07D8i4EjoEK6zCdBwVsH38wnjXekOvSa8y7XnAgv-3_nfGQ/s320/purpleflowers.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>It's such a wonderful time. The lovers are loving, the poets are re-inspired, and life is good. Even if you have fallen on hard times, you can still go outside look at the beauty and smile. It's nature's way of telling you everything is going to be alright.<br />
<br />
<br />
Now there is a big task at hand: Mother's Day. Of coarse you are already prepared for celebrating with your own mother, but what about all of the other mothers of the world? Well I have come up with a solution. We can't possibly afford to by flowers and chocolate for every mother you see. But you can give them a little something special to show you care. <br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiki5xZ4nsQE3bkx3DhfTT9kGCjycL5YnHAf05TRjYjr6D91XBtyIeycvGGsmTWQM4Z7BEP_yRyDxUR5w2BiRHGdOI913BYLNz0kfWgm3xN0ygPOxto-Yi7nMxdW01kFiQZ-f4wDh3O09Dd/s1600/mothersdaycard.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="182" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiki5xZ4nsQE3bkx3DhfTT9kGCjycL5YnHAf05TRjYjr6D91XBtyIeycvGGsmTWQM4Z7BEP_yRyDxUR5w2BiRHGdOI913BYLNz0kfWgm3xN0ygPOxto-Yi7nMxdW01kFiQZ-f4wDh3O09Dd/s320/mothersdaycard.jpg" width="320" /> </a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I made a sheet of these little guys in <a href="https://acrobat.com/#d=tBjlipdmkkOOsWKZSL7tRQ">this pdf</a> so you can print them out on card stock and glue a cute bow if you want. Then when you are out and about this Sunday you can give them to the mother working behind the cash register at the local grocery store or the your lonely neighbor that just so happens to be a mom, or... well you get the point. So share the love this Mother's Day! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

I riffled through it, and some papers fell out. Most of them were old magazine articles from the 70s' with various craft tutorials. But there was a letter I came across. It was a hand-written letter addressed to my Alyssa's grandmother. It appeared to be an old friend catching up talking about the weather.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKITbSAoArs2ft9gDdrqcK_K23Y8dVi3qEhMbej8fapWIB1tjmrKvwGfo9t9PLM9tDtAScARNAqBUbcvcaGxY_pj9S5rny_nXQ_qA-HBYC4HuZTp8yV7FPhjxBPudVq3pMJBkdzBFWxy-G/s1600/ribbon_bird.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKITbSAoArs2ft9gDdrqcK_K23Y8dVi3qEhMbej8fapWIB1tjmrKvwGfo9t9PLM9tDtAScARNAqBUbcvcaGxY_pj9S5rny_nXQ_qA-HBYC4HuZTp8yV7FPhjxBPudVq3pMJBkdzBFWxy-G/s320/ribbon_bird.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>I thought is was clever to cut up pieces of curved ribbon to look like little birdies. Just think, when was the last time you received a hand-written letter? And it's heart-warming knowing that someone put the time and effort to decorate the letter just to show you that they care.<br />

I'm going to do this using a very simple image transfer technique that is very useful in creating mixed media. This technique works on card stock, wood, canvas, etc. but doesn't work so well on non-porous surfaces like glass. You can transfer images from newsprint, magazines, or print up your own. You can pretty much use any image that isn't glossy.<br />
<br />
What you will need:<br />
-Scissors<br />
-Pictures you want to transfer<br />
-Paintbrush<br />
-Gel medium (found in the paint section of arts and crafts stores)<br />
-Bag, Canvas, or wood (item you want to decorate)<br />
-Old credit card<br />
<br />
*You may want to get adhesive to glue small objects onto your finished product like dice, playing cards, pennies, coffee beans, lace, etc.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiCNT7kx9rKphxlOBWt0qi_0vt2YMxzBi1CfEs2uEzOLcQGa2uMyjZUH0BjnuExhFEB3n1HpN2dZpOtzQkWYRWHonIcbquNlbMdewGqrwC-dNeZA-0ShsvOz1aP1mlyrCEXiMOR6hSjQEg/s1600/Applying_gel_+medium.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="230" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiCNT7kx9rKphxlOBWt0qi_0vt2YMxzBi1CfEs2uEzOLcQGa2uMyjZUH0BjnuExhFEB3n1HpN2dZpOtzQkWYRWHonIcbquNlbMdewGqrwC-dNeZA-0ShsvOz1aP1mlyrCEXiMOR6hSjQEg/s320/Applying_gel_+medium.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>Ok, here we go. First I recommend covering your work surface. Now you are going to paint the surface of the bag with gel medium. Apply the image (inked side down) to the painted surface. If you apply to much gel medium and it oozes out from under the picture simply wipe it away with your fingers. Now take a credit card and scrape it across the images back side for 30 seconds. This presses the ink into the gel medium, so the more you scrape the more the image will transfer. But don't take longer than a minute or the gel will dry completely and you will have a tough time getting the paper off.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFaH70dcjDvmwCu4xL-8QQgN2iflhTuqGLUjmDJEpDEtaW0fu-pBzGdgc9NU3JKgsiVEpox8Pvu9msyqnJ4hnE84X7LV9kWkObP9s8s_YLUro3dSLjelGXtWCmU_nyajgrAWFcJVzEA-5h/s1600/White_parts.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFaH70dcjDvmwCu4xL-8QQgN2iflhTuqGLUjmDJEpDEtaW0fu-pBzGdgc9NU3JKgsiVEpox8Pvu9msyqnJ4hnE84X7LV9kWkObP9s8s_YLUro3dSLjelGXtWCmU_nyajgrAWFcJVzEA-5h/s320/White_parts.jpg" width="277" /></a></div>Now slowly peel the paper off.You may notice ghostly white spots where the paper came off with the ink. You can gently rub it off or leave it there. If you leave it there you get a more vintage textured look. It really depends on the effect you are going for. <br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: "Josefin Sans", "Times New Roman", serif;"> I'm Heidi and this is my very first blog post. I have been into art my whole life. I started with off with traditional forms of art like drawing and painting. But over the years I experimented with different things like photography and candle making and now I call myself more of a crafter than an artist, though the terms are probably interchangeable. </span></span><br />
<br />
<b><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: "Josefin Sans", "Times New Roman", serif;">How all the Hubbub got started:</span></span></b><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: "Josefin Sans", "Times New Roman", serif;"> Last holiday season I was short on cash, but I needed to get presents for my family. So I thought I would make them. My mom always told me how handmade gifts were more special than store-bought goods, so I decided to roll with that thought. I started a month in advance and made my whole family gifts. The reactions I got were totally worth all the hard work. Everybody loved their gifts. They said I should make a business out of it, and I thought "yeah right". But then I thought about how fulfilling it was to create really unique items and how awesome the reactions were. So I picked crafting up as past time... who am i kidding it was and is an all-consuming obsession. At the time I was pregnant with my daughter Rocky and I was unsure how I was going to be able to go to work and raise a kid. Naturally crafting came up as a perfect-fit option. I could be doing what I love and stay at home with my daughter Raquel (we call her Rocky for short). So the crafting world is where I decided to build my home. I would like to take my readers along for the ride. So sit back and see what unfolds. </span></span><br />
